Creating Israel's green future through Ayalon Park requires action and education. Like any project involving social change, initial success is dependent upon community participation and long-term success is dependent upon educating the community about the importance of the project and all affiliated issues. Ayalon Park's Visitor's Center – currently under construction – embodies these two key elements.
The Visitor's Center was designed to maximize both public action and education. It will service visitors from Israel and abroad in the following ways:
Education - The Visitor's Center will teach the history of Ayalon Park and its many elements, including Hiria (the former garbage dump) and the Park's innovative recycling center. Lessons will be hands-on and will emphasize both the value of the Park and the importance of preserving the environment. Everyone will be invited to learn at the Visitor's Center, however, the two target populations will be: a) visitors interested in duplicating the Park's recycling and development methods elsewhere in Israel or abroad, and b) today's youth who will carry the Park's values into the future, ensuring the long-term success of Ayalon Park.
Hosting events - The Visitor's Center will be used as a base for planning and hosting public and private events. Since the Center will be one of the first elements of the Park to be completed it will used throughout the construction process in order to generate political and financial support for the Park.
Resource Center - The Visitor's Center will be Ayalon Park's information resource center.Initially, the Visitor's Center will provide information about the Park's development, construction phases and schedules. Following the Park's completion, visitors will turn to the Center for information about planning trips to the Park, available activities and upcoming events.
Guided Tours - The Visitor's Center will also provide guided tours of the Park. Visitor's will contact the Center for information on organizing and coordinating visits. |
